Welcome to the website of Megan Theodore.

NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS:

May 2012: Created in photoshop this image (shown left) has recently been selected as the winner of the Open Graphic Section by the Paengaroa Community Association for pending signage in our community. See the artwork for further information.

September 2011: Oops...it has been a little quiet of late, but managed to get another painting off the easel and into an exhibition. ARCH (Art, Rugby, Culture, Heritage) kicks off 21 September and runs for the month in Te Puke, (main street, cannot miss it). That is about my lot for the RWC!

March 2011: A recent artwork 'Inner Harbour : Ebb and Flow" has recently become a finalist in the 2011 Estuary Artworks Exhibition in Auckland. The exhibition runs through to 9 March 2011 at Uxbridge Creative Centre in Howick. The exhibition's aim is for visitors to gain awareness of and appreciation for the estuary's natural, cultural and geological features of regional and national significance and to motivate the communities to actively work together for it's protection, enhancement and restoration. My artwork is a multi panel piece made up of seven canvas blocks. It is very subtle with many over-glazed colours and varying textures that are represented in the local estuary at different tides.

January 2011* Happy New Year to one and all. After enjoying another holiday on the West Coast of the South Island, I have been inspired by the rugged beauty of the place. In keeping with the landscape theme, my next few canvases will hope to achieve the atmosphere of the place. In the meantime i have finished a small piece from up the road near Cape Runnaway. It again was a heavily textured canvas and is on show at Zohar Gallery at Mount Maunganui.

July 2010* A quiet winter to date! I have been reinventing my landscape ideas. The shapes of the bare winter trees have been something I have been enjoying. The image shown left is of a loose painting I have just finished called "Manuka Stand" This piece of bush was located near Cape Runnaway.

February 2010* Selected artists have been invited to submit an artwork for the 'Lifestyles in the Bay Art Exhibition" This is in conjunction with Creative Tauranga as part of the Kiwi Festival 2010. "Be Charmed by the Bay" is the piece that I developed for the exhibition (image shown under artworks). Exhibition dates are from 19 Feb - 6 March 2010 at Creative Tauranga.

January 2010* For those people who visit my site, a Happy New Year to You! I welcome your thoughts or comments on my artwork or events that I participate in. I am also in the process of offering some tutorial days, so if you or a group of friends are keen to develope your acrylic painting skills, please register your interest!

October 2009* I have finally uploaded some new works onto the site including the image of my painting from the Artist of Plenty Calendar! It has been a busy few months with several deadlines all coming in at once. I also had a studio visit from the Tauranga Art Enrichment Group - It was a nice afternoon spent with a lively group of people. Thanks for coming out!

June 2009* Preparation is underway for the Artist of Plenty 2010 Calendar. Funds raised from this quality product will go towards funding and maintaining Tauranga Women's Refuge 24/7 crisis phone line. This is a worthy project and it is in it's second year. The lady who should get all the credit for the organising of this project is Sandy Williams. She has kindly asked me to contribute a painting for inclusion. The launch will be in September.

March 2009* The next solo exhibition "Pick 'n' Mix: A Kiwi Summer Collection of Works", will hang at Clearview Winery, Te Awanga, Hawkes Bay from 7 March - 18 April 2009. These images can be viewed under the artwork page.

November 2008 * It was a good art month with two achievements. A painting called Beach Towel Diptych made the selection for the Tauranga National Art Awards and I achieved third in the 2009 Telecom Yellow Pages Phone Book for the BOP Region.

August 2008 * The recently held Bethlehem College Art Exhibition showcased a good selection of BOP Artist's work. Two painting of mine were sold from a selection of approx 270 paintings. For those who do not know about this event - it is an annual fundraiser for the school and has now been running for 13 years. It pulls in crowds from afar and the standard of work for sale is exceptional. Mark your calendar for next year - an event not to be missed.

April 2008 *Our local community project "The Paengaroa Charity Art Auction" held on 8th - 10th April 2008 was a success, with $3,300 raised. Proceeds from artworks sold went to Paengaroa School in their quest for a new swimming pool. Many thanks to the following artist who helped make this event possible: Debbie Tipuna, Bari Duncan, Jo Reid, Bruce Lendrum, John Willers & Dorothy Armstrong.
